Job Description
The Specialty Advanced Practice Provider exercises independent judgement in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of medical processes and procedures, in accordance with the licensure regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and as delineated in the written Scope of Practice and Protocol. Demonstrates respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines while using an integrated team-based approach to achieve desired patient outcomes. Utilizes evidenced based standards, guidelines and protocols for care delivery. Participates in quality and best practice initiatives by utilizing standards and guidelines for cost effective care delivery to continuously improve patient care and enhance outcomes. Performs high-quality clinical practices and effective patient management under physician supervision by following state regulations, including primary and secondary specialty care in clinical and surgical practice settings.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday OR four 10 hour shifts/no nights/weekends/call.
Clinic has 9 vascular surgeons, 7 APP's and serving 8 locations throughout Northern, VA.
Main office is located at Inova Center for Personalized Health.

Job Responsibilities

- Practices in accordance with safe and effective standards of care and ensures compliance with professional and ethical standards of practice.
- Communicates appropriately with physicians, peers, nursing staff, other healthcare providers and administration.
- Develops differential diagnosis and plans of care based on data collection and revises based on physiologic and psychosocial findings. Interprets and synthesizes laboratory, imaging and other pertinent data. Reviews patient plan of care with interdisciplinary team and with the patient and family
- Evaluates and documents patients' response to care, and evaluates impact of illness on patients' health status, functional status, nutritional status, sleep and rest patterns, family and social relationships, and establishes a health promotion strategy.
- Assumes clinical management for vascular surgery patient population in collaboration with physicians in practice.
- Provides accurate record keeping as evidenced by complete and pertinent history and physicals, pre-operative progress notes, post-operative progress note, episodic and follow-up notes.
- Serves as a role model and preceptor for new Advanced Practice Providers, RNs, and students.
- Participates in and supports the departmental, hospital and system-wide quality performance improvement initiatives.
- Supports departmental cost savings strategies and provides care in an efficient and cost-conscious manner.
- Assists in the development and revision of standards for patient populations and integrates evidence-based research findings into clinical practice
- Participates in clinical research/data collection and assists in projects and planning for continual development of respective specialty
- Provides clinical and professional educational programs to improve staff knowledge
- Proactively assists peers with work tasks
- May perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Graduate of accredited NP or PA program
- Current board certification and valid Virginia licenses
- DEA License
- BLS & ACLS (upon start)
- Experience as APP preferred
