Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer (SME) with extensive systems, software, cloud, and Agile experience. This role supports a complex program providing Agile development, operations, and maintenance for critical systems. The successful candidate will work directly with customers to understand their needs, elicit requirements, develop and prototype solutions, demonstrate these solutions to the customer, and iterate based on feedback. This role is rooted in a DevOps framework and involves participation in all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding, and unit testing. Primary Responsibilities:
Engage independently with customers to understand their pain points and elicit requirements.
Develop, prototype, and deploy solutions within Commercial Cloud Solutions using Infrastructure platform services.
Participate in software programming initiatives to support innovation and enhancement, utilizing technologies such as Python, Java, JavaScript, SpringBoot, Hibernate, and Angular.
Independently demonstrate proposed solutions to customers, then iterate based on feedback.
Collaborate closely with team members, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to ensure alignment and implementation of User Stories to customer use cases.
Create innovative solutions to meet technical customer needs.
Analyze, coordinate, and perform proof of concept, performance, and end-to-end testing of Infrastructure needs driven by developed software to meet mission requirements.
Support the Agile software development lifecycle in accordance with Program SAFe practices.
Utilize industry-leading DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, and Unix bash scripting.
Document and perform systems software development, including deploying build artifacts across different environments using GitFlow constructs.
Communicate key project data to team members, fostering team cohesion and effectiveness.
Use Atlassian tools like JIRA and Confluence to track activities.
Apply and identify best practices and standard operating procedures. Basic Qualifications:
Expert proficiency in Python, R, and SQL.
Experience eliciting customer requirements and independently developing in Commercial Cloud Platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
Demonstrated ability to independently demonstrate developed solutions and update based on customer feedback.
Proficiency in common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and development practices.
Expertise in Java, JavaScript, and Angular.
Extensive experience with the software development lifecycle and delivering within DevOps toolsets/practices.
Direct experience using software testing performance tools like Junit.
Experience working in an Agile development environment and pace.
Experience with cloud data services (e.g., S3, RDS, EFS).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in using version control systems and issue/problem tracking systems. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with SAFe development practices.
Experience with Perl, Visual Basic, PL/SQL, and XQuery. Requirements:
Master s degree with 15+ years of relevant experience or a PhD with 13+ years of prior relevant experience.
