Practice Group Marketing Coordinator (M&A)Cooley is seeking a Practice Group Marketing Coordinator to join the Marketing & Business Development team.Position summary:

Under the supervision of the Practice Group Marketing Manager, the Practice Group Marketing Coordinator will work closely with firm attorneys and other marketing team members to support all business development and marketing activities for designated practice groups, sectors and/or geographic markets. The primary goal is to drive revenue through the support of new business opportunities and client expansion programs, including pitches and proposals, events and sponsorships, sales pipeline management, key client initiatives and business development coaching and training. This position is responsible for working with attorneys to respond to marketing and business development requests in a manner consistent with the firm's overall strategy. Work is defined by the goals, objectives and policies of the department and the practices. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Position responsibilities:Business development:Serve as resource for business development/sales support for attorneys in designated office/practice groupsWork with the marketing managers, Director of Marketing, Practice Group Marketing Manager, and partners to formulate and implement policies and procedures for business development initiatives, including proposal preparation, client presentations, pipeline management and market developmentAssist with responses to RFPs/RFIs, pitches and proposalsCoordinate and participate in business development training sessionsHelp identify and evaluate new business opportunities and targets, which includes identifying trends in the marketplace, supporting key targeting initiatives, conducting business research and relationship searches, collecting key target account data, and participating on client-specific target teamsSupport targeting initiatives consistent with overall practice group and firm strategyAssist with assessing, analyzing, targeting and initiating efforts to cultivate new clients for the firm and expand Cooley's cross-selling opportunities (between practice groups and among our various offices)Programs and visibility initiatives:Collaborate with practice group partners and marketing colleagues to execute hosted events, client receptions and alumni programsHelp manage business sponsorships and activities tied to industry and business organizations in which the designated practice group is activeHelp champion firm branding and related standards on creative services projectsHelp provide input and recommendations on local marketing programs and budget as related to the designated practice groupIdentify and support networking, speaking, media opportunities for designated practice group attorneys that support practice group business plansKnowledge management:Track and report on designated practice group activities, status and teamsDevelop and maintain marketing materials and collateral (descriptions, engagement lists, client lists, awards, etc.)Steer data using the appropriate firm technologies and services, including external research databases (CRM (Salesforce), SCORE, Intranet, Library Services, Pitchbook, CapitalIQ, IPO Vital Signs, Deal Point Data, etc.)Promote exposure to practice group and individual attorneys internallySupport deal tracking and reporting efforts for the practiceAssist with lateral attorney orientation and onboarding processOperations:Support research projects for strategic market opportunitiesAssist attorneys and staff through effective communication ensuring a well-informed and highly motivated team effortWork cooperatively with staff and managers at the local office to advance both marketing and general administrative goals and projectsRole model the use of the CRM tool in managing the sales pipeline and for practice group business developmentAll other duties as assigned or requiredSkills and experience:Required:Available to work overtime, as required2+ years in law firm or professional office setting with 1+ directly applicable marketing experiencePreferred:Bachelor's Degree in business, communication, marketing, or related fieldMinimum 1 year of business development experience or sales experienceExperience in a law firm or professional services environment, with a working knowledge of professional services industriesProject management experience and direct experience in creating and monitoring sales and business plans, goal tracking and sales pipeline managementCompetencies:Proactive self-starter who is able to work in a demanding, project-based environmentAbility to work with little direct supervision, in a highly collaborative environmentAbility to multi-task, problem solve, work well under pressure and coordinate sophisticated marketing programs with good results. Ability to consistently meet deadlinesAssertive, but flexible as to style; must be able to effectively handle stressful situations and interact with various personalities and communication styles at all levels in the firmStrong analytic and research skillsAbility to master the use of complex marketing systems and to train others on these systems.Strong ability to function well as a team member and facilitatorExhibit intellectual curiosity and genuine enthusiasm for law firm marketing activities and goalsExcellent communication skills both written and verbalAbility to develop professional relationships with department members, attorneys and firm staffMust be reliable and punctualCooley offers a competitive compensation and excellent benefits package and is committed to fair and equitable employment practices.EOE.The expected hourly pay range for this position is $30.00 - $43.50.
