Position Title: Content StrategistLocation: RemoteDuration: long term through end of year & possible extension

Projects: there are two projects in scope for this role:1. Higher Ed Audience:

reimagined/restructured website - strategy, reorganization or rewrite of content and net-new content through various versions.2. K-12 Audience:

completely new site - strategy - writing and light web production (there is a team but expect some work here).

education-related industriesbout the Opportunity:s a Freelance Content Strategist in the Communications and Marketing division focused primarily on web content, you will help lead discovery exercises (content audits, market research, etc), collaborate on overall site strategy (information architecture, etc.), and write short- and long-form web content. At times, you will be expected to make your own content updates in the Drupal CMS. The Freelance Content Strategist will report to the Director of Digital Copywriting. When it comes to content, you should be comfortable writing and editing clear, accurate, user-centered digital content that's consistent with the organization's brand voice.This position requires a well-rounded professional who can multitask with ease, is deadline-oriented, can adapt quickly to changing priorities, and can work well with staff at all levels

Responsibilities:

Works closely with program stakeholders to understand business needs and user needs to ensure that all content meets these requirements.Crafts content through the synthesis of a variety of written sources and other inputs, and writes original content and microcopy, as needed.Generates and maintains detailed content change management documentation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of materials.Conducts content audits and assists in the creation of content models and content usage rules that enable us to maintain consistent brand standards.Collaborates with experience designers and IT to determine, define, and document content types and elements that support publishing to web.Identifies opportunities where CMS enhancements can increase efficiency and effectiveness in content development and maintenance workflows and document those requirements for IT.Contributes to the creation of taxonomies and metadata.Copyediting, proofreading, and content entry, as needed.Required Skills:

Bachelor's degreeThree to five years of experience in creating and managing content for diverse audiences within a digital content management system, Drupal.Exceptional written communication skillsble to provide relevant case studies and a portfolio of your work.deep understanding of how copy and interaction design support each otherExperience in web content management systems, especially DrupalStrong ability to identify content gaps in a user flowExperience synthesizing content created in a variety of formats.Demonstrated project management and time management skills, including ability to accurately gauge project duration, manage expectations, deliver on deadlines, and handle conflicting priorities.Knowledge of how metadata impacts website content and SEO.Preferred Skills:

Someone with a strong perspective on the relationship between editorial strategy and UX design.great storyteller both with words and visualizations.Effective, but easy-going; someone who is fun to work with and thrives in a collaborative environment.Someone with a good sense of humor who isn't afraid to try new ways of doing things.Someone with experience working in agile, or iterative design and delivery environments.
