Job description

Summary:

Provides direct oversight for all special education services and supports to include Childfind, Individualized IEPs, Early Childhood Special Education, Regional Program, related services, and anything else associated with Special Education. This individual will also uphold the strategic plan and support the director for student support services in fully supporting all students and building level staff in the aforementioned areas.

Qualifications:
  • Postgraduate Professional Certificate with special education endorsement.
  • Master's Degree required. Minimum of five years successful experience as a teacher, supervisor, or administrator.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively contribute to a team.
  • Leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with teachers, administrators, special instructional services staff, parents, and the public.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Duties:
  • Demonstrate expertise and keep current in areas of specialized instruction and special education law.
  • Assists teachers and administrators with the delivery of an effective instructional program for special.
  • Collaborate with elementary and secondary instructional services in the development and implementation of special education curriculum, staff training, and instructional programs.
  • Coordinates district-wide programs as assigned.
  • Responds to community requests for information ad assistance.
  • Uses data to assess program efficacy.
  • Recommends instructional materials and equipment for curriculum implementation.
  • Develops staff development programs in instructional strategies and curriculum implementation.
  • Serves as a resource to principals and teachers for problem-solving and planning programs to improve instruction and to assure full implementation of special education regulations.
  • Collaborate with human resources and the instructional department with special education procedures, staffing, and issues on a regular basis.
  • Serves as a member of the Division Improvement Team.
  • Assesses office functions in an effort to improve services.
  • Assists in preparation and management of the special education budget.
  • Prepares specific reports, grants and proposals to improve and support the special education programs.
  • Assists with recruiting and interviewing of special education personnel.
  • Prepares reports on the effectiveness and efficiency of the special education programs.
  • Other duties may be assigned through the immediate supervisor.

Pay Rate:
The salary range is $98,355-$165,935

Contract:
Full time / 12 months / 245 days
