Position Responsibilities:
Completes a comprehensive nutritional assessment on each patient upon admission
Counsels patients on principles of well-balanced nutrition in individual sessions and conduct group nutrition discussions
Prepares individualized meal plans that consider the needs of the patient including: medical, nutritional, age, cultural, religious and ethical concerns
Provides at minimum weekly individual nutritional counseling for patients and family (as needed)
Conducts nutrition education groups that are appropriate for adult and adolescent populations
Provides updates on the nutritional status of each patient weekly as part of team rounds/meetings and as requested
Completes all required documentation and reports in a timely manner, maintaining compliance with the policies and procedures
Participates in development and updates of patient cycle menu
Manages inventory and food ordering/restocking for weekly food orders
Communicates effectively with other departments to provide the high-quality patient care
Demonstrates accountability for the proper use of patients protected health information
Participates in presentations of scheduled in-services and other appropriate training activities
Utilizes supervisory feedback to improve performance
Monitors meals and snacks, including eating/modeling normal eating with eating disordered patients
Communication with referring and/or outpatient dietitian upon admit to program, during course of treatment as needed, and upon discharge from program
Performs Quality Improvement activities
Performs other duties as assigned
Education, Competencies and Credentials:
Registered Dietitian with current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration; RD eligible may be considered
Bachelor s degree in dietetics required; Graduate degree preferred
Minimum of 2-3 years nutrition counseling experience preferred
Experience with eating disorder population preferred
Skills:
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Knowledge of, and ability to, assess eating disorders
Knowledge of nutrition counseling techniques and practices
Ability to develop and implement nutritional treatment planning
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information in accordance with state and federal law
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
Skill in demonstrating tact, resourcefulness and patience
Ability to work well within a clinical team setting
Ability to adhere to and enforce policies and procedures
Ability to adapt to diverse client groups
Kitchen management knowledge
Time management skills
Ability to communicate kindly, professionally & effectively nutrition-related information to clients no matter what their unique situation
Hours: 40 hours per week.
