Overview Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in support of basic research in the Department of Anatomy, Physiology & Genetics at Uniformed Services University (USU) in Bethesda MD. The incumbent will be responsible for initiating and carrying out research projects in collaboration with a team and to work on assessments and treatments for traumatic brain injury in both lissencephalic and gyrencephalic animal models. A number of experimental scenarios are available including changes in brain gene/protein expression, neuropathology/histology, multiple types of imaging (MRI, PET), biochemical and behavioral analysis. This position will be in support of the Department of Anatomy, Physiology & Genetics at Uniformed Services University (USU) in Bethesda, MD. Responsibilities Assists in designing, developing, executing, and implementing scientific research and/or development. Performs specialized laboratory research using experimental protocols involving specialized procedures. Collects and handles samples and keeps detailed records of experiments. Assists with the preparation of data for presentations at scientific meetings and for publication in journals. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role. Qualifications Education and Experience Doctoral degree Minimum of 0-5 years experience required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of appropriate scientific area. Ability to analyze and interpret data. Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check. Physical Capabilities Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs. Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods. Work Environment This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting. Some positions or sites may require that the incumbent be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination may be required.
