Requirements for consideration:

Minimum Education:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Completion of Phlebotomy training required: completion certification from a Phlebotomy program or another Allied Health Training program, such as Medical Assistant, MLT or MT.

Years of Experience:

• No experience required

Certification:

• Basic Life Support within 3 months

Job Responsibilities

• Manages specimen accessioning and processing accurately and efficiently to provide quality specimens for laboratory testing.
• Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others to optimize job performance and foster working relationships.
• Performs patient registration/billing/test order procedures accurately and efficiently to ensure correct testing, reporting, billing and regulatory compliance.
• Collections and interactions with all customers performed using the AIDET patient care method.
• Adheres to Inova Patient Safety policies for patient identification.
• Performs proper specimen collection by confirming patient identification, collecting specimens in proper tubes, utilizing appropriate venipuncture techniques and accurately labeling the specimens to ensure accurate patient results.
