The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) is a multi-mission science and flight operations center for NASA's flagship observatories, which include Hubble Space Telescope, the most celebrated space observatory in history. We also lead the science and mission operations for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST launched in 2021 and will perform parts of the science operations for the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, on the Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus in Baltimore, Maryland.
The IT Division at STScI is seeking a Principal Project Manager who will be responsible for successfully leading and managing Information Technology and other business projects while working as part of a team in the Information and Technology Services Division (ITSD).
This position allows for hybrid work, with occasional on-site days. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to our local market. (MD, DE, VA, PA, DC & WV). This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Residence in order to meet ITAR requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The ideal candidate shall possess knowledge and experience in the following:
Minimum of six year's project management experience in a formal IT organization.
Leading medium to large scale IT projects utilizing a waterfall, Agile or a hybrid framework throughout the lifecycle of the project.

Proficiency in Program and Project Management Tools

Candidate should possess the following "soft" skills:

Education/ Experience/Certifications:
Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Software Engineering.
PMI certification such as PMP, ACP and experience working across multiple subsystems is required, Agile Certifications preferred.
Substitution of additional relevant education or experience for stated qualifications may be considered.
Salary range is $145k - $156k. The starting position and salary are commensurate with education and experience.
