Position Summary

The Staff Cyber Engineer applies working knowledge of cyber security fundamentals to ensure data security for underwater systems. The candidate guides engineering efforts across the Systems Engineering V to deploy intelligent Risk Management Frameworks (RMF) to achieve Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditation. The ideal candidate will have cyber security experience in the Department of Defense (DoD) world. The candidate should possess a tenacious personality that displays excellent technical judgement, attention to detail, and ability to understand "the big picture".

Duties & Responsibilities

Identify, analyze, and mitigate cyber vulnerabilities for complete underwater systems in accordance with required government specifications.
Implement the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) RMF in compliance with program requirements such as DoD standards.
Implement Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) on various operating systems.
Advise on STIG's applied on customer supplied products.
Produce letters of volatility and clearing procedures for in house products, as well as analyzing those produced by vendors.
Function as Cyber Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) between engineering, project management and the customer.
Introduce innovative design concepts to achieve optimal cyber system security.
Participate in government audits.
Participate in proposals in accordance with DoD 5000.
Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

BS degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical or Systems Engineering. Commensurate experience will be considered.
10+ years of practical experience in Systems, Software or Cyber Engineering.
Work experience with US Department of Defense (DoD) or similarly regulated field.
Forward leaning personality that is a strong and effective communicator.
Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Government Department of Defense Security Clearance.
Must be a US citizen.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Familiarity with STIG and NIST policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Experience hardening embedded systems (including Linux variants and bare metal) and network devices.
Experience utilizing cyber methodologies to both derive and fulfill system level requirements.
Experience with the RMF lifecycle such as zero trust security measures and encryption methodologies.
Creation of ATO artifacts such as clearing procedures and letters of volatility.
Comfortable physically analyzing and assessing COTS hardware/sensor components.
Experience designing and implementing security architectures.
Experience segregating classified and unclassified data via system design.
Experience with Anti Tamper (AT) technology.
Experience with AUV's, ROV's, the ocean engineering field or robotic systems.
Additional duties as assigned.

Additional Information

This position is Hybrid - Remote and will require commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need.
