About the Job:

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Senior CIS Specialist. The successful candidate will independently perform all work tasks processed by the CIS group, including customer and deposit account verification and maintenance. Provides support on special projects and assignments. Assists with the updating of procedures and reviews them for accuracy. Acts as a Subject Matter Expert and provide support to branch personnel, employees of the CIS Group, other areas of Deposit Operations and other internal departments as needed. Assists with resolving problems and answering questions for team members and internal clients. Builds relationships with internal partners and promotes teamwork at all times. Performs other duties as assigned.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Review new and updated account documentation, articles, beneficial ownership, and numerous account supporting documents for accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements (CIP, IRS Reporting, etc.). Perform core updates on client records, deposit and CD accounts, cards, safe deposit boxes, and automatic transfers. Follow procedures for reviewing address changes to minimize the chance of fraud. Perform mass updates for requests obtained through retail online banking platform.
  1. Ensures all required documentation is reviewed and corrected to meet the banks requirements for the Customer Identification Program and policies and procedures surrounding account opening and documentation. Following the Customer Identification Program policy, track issues, and errors in the core to minimize risk and meet regulatory and bank requirements. Place a high degree of emphasis on accuracy and speed when completing verification.
  1. Independently process name and address changes, account and customer maintenance, and online banking updates. Establish, update, and delete overdraft and automatic transfer requests, following existing policies and procedures.
  1. Act as a mentor to new employees, and assist with training on all job responsibilities completed within the CIS Group in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assist with the updating of policies and procedures as needed. Assist with special projects and assignments that require research, analysis, and updating of account, customer, online banking, debit cards, and/or transfer records. Represent the department on various task forces and work groups.
  1. Ensure all work is completed timely, accurately and according to the procedures. Assist other team members when needed. Adhere to the Sandy Spring core values to create a remarkable experience for both our internal and external clients.


Required Skills:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Position requires 3 to 4 years work experience in a CIS working environment or in a branch platform area with emphasis on understanding account opening and maintenance, account relationships, business entities, and account documentation. Accuracy and attention to detail required and the ability to organize and prioritize work to meet scheduled deadlines.
  1. Must have thorough knowledge of regulations pertaining to account ownership, Customer Identification Program requirements, and tax reporting, including B notices, W8-BEN, and W9 certification rules.
  1. The ability to process a high volume of work proficiently within quality guidelines while maintaining an organized work area.
  1. Ability to use a PC and Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word and Access is required with an intermediate skill level to perform inquiries, verify information and to accurately input data.
  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be able to explain problems clearly and interact in a professional and positive manor.
  1. Work requires independent thinking and judgment to resolve problems and to communicate the resolutions with the supervisor or to ask for assistance when needed.
  1. Analytical ability is required in researching and analyzing data and finding resolutions to problems.

SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.

Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.

Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.
