The Grocery Manager is responsible for ordering, vendor communications, compliance and sanitation, back room inventory and controls, reporting, financial control, and budget responsibilities. This role is also responsible for monitoring and improving department operations to increase profitability, combined with managing labor costs and reducing loss due to waste and damage.
  1. Utilize weekly and period reports to gauge, maintain and support efforts to ensure department metrics are aligned with company goals.
  2. Identify buying opportunities to mitigate waste on a daily and weekly basis.
  3. Maintain inventory management by performing daily on-hand maintenance and OOS audits to keep on-hands correct and facilitate accurate ordering.
  4. Oversee the signage process (print, hang, and remove) and commit price changes by the designated deadline.
  5. Collaborate with the Central Store Support Merchandiser to ensure the remainder of work is accomplished by the store on a monthly basis.
  6. Delegate store priority sets and cutting in new items, ensuring that the planners, shelf tags, signage, location, parameters, etc are all set to company merchandising standards.
  7. Oversee all purchasing within the department to ensure order accuracy to manage waste, provide product variety and prioritize special orders for customers.
  8. Manage staff by overseeing hiring, corrective action, training, mentoring and scheduling throughout the department.
  9. Collaborate with your Director team to help set and meet goals and expectations.

Requirements:
  • Dependable and reliable, having the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes; including a minimum of 5 shifts and 1 weekend day which include mornings, nights, and holidays as well as having flexibility with store assignments within an hour drive of home
  • Previous experience accurately and timely managing projects through completion
  • Physical ability to perform the following: standing, walking, bending, climbing throughout the entire work day and the ability to lift, stack, and maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially with communication (written and verbal) and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks that change frequently and manage unexpected demands
  • Dependable, follows instructions and takes initiative to solve problems
  • Experience in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong customer service skills, including patience and active listening, to ensure customer feel heard and helped
