Job description

Do you want to apply your experience to a cause you can feel good about? The Town of Leesburg is excited to present this opportunity for the Curator of Manuscripts and Archives. This position, located within Thomas Balch Library, is responsible for appraising, acquiring accessioning, arranging, describing, cataloging, preserving, and maintaining permanent records and historically valuable documents. It provides reference and research assistance to patrons and assists with training of staff and programming. Weekend and evening hours are required.

Master's Degree in American History, Archival Administration, Public History, Library Science or related field with specialization in archives and manuscripts; Minimum five (5) years' experience in a special collections library or equivalent combination of education and experience; Must be available to work evening and weekend hours. Possession of a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.Master's Degree in American History or Public History with archival coursework and a Master's Degree in Library Science; Records Management experience; Minimum ten (10) years of upwardly responsible positions in special collections or academic libraries; archival certification.
