Job Summary

DPR's Boost Camp offers a variety of exciting urban camping opportunities for youth ages 3 to 13. This camp offers a combination of high-quality enrichment and recreation in addition to an academic/education component to accelerate learning. In these camps, youth can experience balanced human development, build strong positive connections with their peers, and learn in a safe environment for free.

Duties And Responsibilities

Site Administrator

* Create a structured camp environment with continuous opportunities for learning and growth

* Provide supervision to support staff to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems.

* Resolve customer complaints and/or answer customers' questions regarding policies and procedures.

* Provide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems.

* Interpret and communicate work procedures and company policies to staff.

* Assist with evaluating employees' job performance and conformance to regulations and recommend appropriate personnel action.

* Train or instruct employees in job duties and program implementation

* Train or instruct employees in participant behavior management

* Implement agency policies, procedures, and service standards. Make recommendations, develop, or update procedures, policies, or standards.

* Complete program and staff evaluations by established deadlines

Behavior Specialist

* Supervise 6-10 youth with special needs always ensuring their safety.

* Assist in developing and implementing an engaging daily curriculum

* Provide verbal and physical intervention as needed to manage disruptive or aggressive participant behavior

* Provide 1:1 support for students having difficulty with self-control

* Model appropriate social behaviors and encourage the campers to interact positively with each other

* Foster a positive working environment

* Create a structured schedule for each day

* Develop positive working relationships with the site staff

* Swim and monitor pool safety with campers during all swim sessions

* Complete administrative duties daily (i.e. scheduling, attendance, planning for next day, and emailing)

* Comply with personnel policies for camp staff

Enrichment Facilitator

* Supervise 8-10 youth and always keep them safe

* Create a structured camp environment with continuous opportunities for learning and growth

* Create and implement project-oriented activities

* Maintain working knowledge of all applicable curriculum sets

* Provide leadership for multiple camp groups

* Create a positive environment with high expectations for staff and children

* Provide feedback and direction to staff team to meet camp goals

* Communicate clear and positive expectations and plans to parents

* Implement positive behavior management techniques to redirect camper behavior

* Swim and monitor pool safety with campers during all swim sessions

* Complete daily administrative duties daily (i.e., scheduling, attendance, planning for next day, and emailing)

* Comply with personnel policies for camp staff

Site Support Assistant

* Takes direction from Site Administrator on how to assist with camp functions each day

* Support daily program administration

* Support meals programs

* Provide support to all aspects of the camp day

* Assist with keeping groups of children safe at all times

* Comply with personnel policies for camp staff

Minimum Qualifications/Education/ Experience:

Site Administrator

* At least 2 years' experience with recreational programming; preferably with DPR

* At least 2-3 years' experience in program facilitation and/or program management

* Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook

* Excellent communication skills-written and verbal

* Excellent customer service skills

* Maintains a solutions-oriented approach in the face of challenges

* Attention to detail

Behavior Specialist

* At least 21 years of age

* High level of energy and enthusiasm

* Available to attend training and work every day of Summer Camp beginning June 17-August 09, 2024

* At least 3 years of experience working with children with a wide range of special needs

* At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role

* The ability to plan, organize, and contribute ideas during planning sessions, securing supplies and materials, etc.

* Leadership experience including planning and preparation of various engaging recreational activities.

* Good judgment and the ability to recognize hazardous situations and prevent accidents

* Must be alert and able to physically control campers if necessary

* Ability to implement behavior management plans or supporting behavior management strategies

* Must have knowledge of developmental and intellectual disabilities and behavior management techniques such as positive reinforcement, redirection, setting limits, etc

Enrichment Facilitator

* At least 21 years of age

* Available to attend training and work every day of summer camp from June 17- August 09, 2024

* At least 2 years of experience working with groups of prek3- 13 children

* At least 2 years of leadership experience

* Passionate about working with youth

* Proven success creating and leading a safe and structured environment for children

* Ability to plan and implement engaging activities for children

* Positive, problem-solving attitude in the face of challenges

* Creative, hard-working, energetic, organized, professional, flexible, and team oriented

* Reflective and responsive to feedback

* Comfortable using email as a main form of communication with supervisors

Site Support Assistant

* At least 18 years of age

* Available to attend training and work every day of summer camp from June 17 - August 09, 2024

* At least 1 year of experience working with groups of children

* Leads children by always setting a positive example

* Takes direction and feedback with ease and implements tasks with a positive attitude

* Creative, hard-working, energetic, organized, professional, flexible, and team oriented

Other Significant Facts

Area of Consideration: This position is part of the Pathway to Government Employment Partnership Program. District residents who received a high school diploma from the District of Columbia Public Schools or a District public charter school or received a GED or its equivalent from the District of Columbia will receive priority consideration for this entry-level position. Applicants must provide a high school transcript, GED certificate, high school diploma, or other applicable documentation along with verification of District residency before the district government may extend a final offer of employment.

Tour of Duty: Varies

Salary:

* Site Administrator- $40.00/hr.

* Behavior Specialist- $30.00/hr.

* Enrichment Facilitator: $35.00/ hr.

* Site Support Assistant- $20.00/hr.

Position Designation: This position is designated as a Protection-Sensitive position and is subject to mandatory pre-employment and periodic Criminal Background Checks and Traffic Records Checks (as applicable). This position is also subject to mandatory pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana.
