Job Title: HR Generalist

Location: Hyattsville, MD

Supervisory Responsibility: No Supervisory responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY - A HR Generalist Specialist is responsible for undertaking a wide range of HR tasks performing HR-related duties on a professional level. This position carries out data support responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment, on-boarding, off-boarding.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support managers in strategic planning efforts related to staffing levels and requirements.
  • Assist with coordination of employee benefit programs.
  • Assist with payroll processing and reconciliation.
  • Employee relations and personnel management
  • Reporting personnel data
  • Perform full lifecycle recruiting activities including candidate sourcing, screening, offer negotiation and hiring of candidate.
  • Identify and implement use of recruiting sources (including social media platforms) and strategies to expand outreach and engage diverse, active and passive candidates.
  • Track recruitment activity and other metrics to ensure a qualified diverse applicant pool.
  • Build and foster relationships with prospective candidates for future vacancies.
  • Provide guidance and advice to management and staff on recruitment and selection issues.
  • Create and maintain recruitment SOPs to ensure consistent, efficient processes.
  • Assist with development of training programs. Conduct recruitment related trainings; serve as SME for college-wide forums and meetings.
  • Create and maintain recruitment SOPs to ensure consistent, efficient processes.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
  • Computer (PC), printer, fax, telephone, and scanner

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Business Administration, Labor Relations, Human Resources Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university. An equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted.
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience with principles and practices of Human Resources Management and the operations of an organization.
  • Thorough knowledge of recruitment principles and practices to include employee value proposition, branding and sourcing, employment laws and regulations, policies and procedures ,employment benefits and compensation.
  • Federal, state and local laws applicable to Human Resources.

CERTIFICATIONS
  • SHRM or PHR Certification preferred

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Experience with high volume and full-cycle recruiting.
  • Experience working with various social media platforms to source and recruit candidates.
  • Ability to create and interpret recruitment reports and metrics.
  • Knowledge of varies functional units within HR and how they interconnect.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact well with people in all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working at a higher education institute.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
  • Work will entail the individual to be able to concentrate and pay attention for long periods of time. The environment is indoors in an office setting.

WORKING HOURS
  • Monday through Friday 8:00am -5:00pm

TRAVEL
  • None- On site

TELECOMMUTE OPTIONS
  • Telework is an option
