The Senior Professional Land Surveyor, a department management position, is responsible for all topographic and property survey services that are performed by WRA Surveys department staff and associated subconsultants. The services may include, but are not limited to geodetic surveys, conventional topographic surveys, boundary surveys, hydraulic cross-sections, 3-D scanning, as-built surveys, control for photogrammetric and LiDAR surveys, stakeout services, boundary and easement/right-of-way plat preparation, and CADD services. The services are provided to both internal WRA departments and private, municipal, educational, and governmental clients through on-call and stand-alone contracts. The Senior Professional Land Surveyor will provide management of multiple WRA field crews and consultant crews during field operations as well as office staff involved with research, processing, and development of WRA survey deliverables. This role will be directly responsible for contract management assignments, including proposal preparation and negotiation, documentation, correspondence, scheduling, status reporting, database maintenance, and quality control reviews. The Senior Professional Land Surveyor will act as a direct interface between WRA and the client.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in the application of advanced survey concepts, principles, and methods.
  • Schedule, assign, and oversee survey and boundary/right-of-way tasks and perform quality review of associated products and services.
  • Oversee and mentor WRA Survey Department office and field staff including other Professional Land Surveyors.
  • Prepare detailed qualification packages, scopes, budgets, and schedules for survey project/contract pursuits.
  • Prepare WRA billings/invoicing including coordination with clients.
  • Provide surveying services and consultation to clients in a legal and ethical manner.
  • Develop and implement effective and innovative practices, methods, techniques, and equipment for the practice of land surveying.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Associates degree in Land Surveying or minor in Land Surveying.
  • Professional Land Surveyor or Property Line Surveyor License in Maryland + 10 years' experience. Additional mid-Atlantic region surveyor licenses preferred or the ability to obtain licensing required.
  • Experience with providing survey services to State Departments of Transportation preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
