As a direct report to the Chief Financial Officer the VP Controller is responsible for directing the organization's accounting functions. These functions include establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. The major lines of activity and direct reports include Accounting & General Ledger, Technical Accounting, Accounts Payable, Billing & Cash Management, Payroll, Treasury, Contract Accounting & Set-Up, Internal Controls and Government Compliance.

Key priorities include month-end close and associated reporting, maintaining, and measuring the effectiveness of internal controls, revenue recognition, DPO & DSO management, Financial Audit, and management of the Audit relationship with our external auditor, management of external government compliance relationships including DCAA & DCMA, technical accounting papers and management of half-year and full-year close for external reporting purposes.

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for adherence to GAAP and IFRS requirements along with strong knowledge of the FAR and CAS.
  • Prepare and manage the annual accounting budget and will be a key player in M&A activity from diligence through integration.
  • Work closely with the CFO in support of the Executive Management Team and will prepare reports and presentations for recommendation to senior leadership.
  • Key element of the job is the building and maintenance of relationships with Group UK counterparts.
  • Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Work closely with the CFO on a wide range of ad-hoq tasks and demonstrates a wide degree of creativity and latitude in the role.


Qualifications:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelors Degree in accounting or other business-related discipline. MBA / CPA desired but not required.
  • 15+ years experience in accounting and/or finance roles in the Government Contracting space.
  • Experience with GAAP, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) & Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
  • Excellent communications skills, have executive experience, ability to partner across functional organizations, fast paced environment, ability to solve complex problems, forward thinking, continuous improvement oriented.
  • Leadership experience of large teams > 45+ people.
