Reports to the Division Director of Pharmacy for the assigned area. Responsible for working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary health care team to promote wellness, maintain current health, and/or intervene in acute or chronic illness. Promotes the safe and effective use of medications by consulting with other health care professionals concerning problems and instructs patients and families on their medications. Provides education to patients, students, residents, and pharmacists. The Night Shift Adult ED pharmacist will primarily provide staffing within the Adult Emergency Department for the majority of the overnight shift. They will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team within the ED to provide clinical pharmacy services including medication recommendations, medication order review and verification, and code/trauma response. Work schedule is 7 days on / 7 days off. 12-hour nights x 6 nights per week and one 8-hour night 1x per week. The pharmacist also works closely with the rest of the adult night shift pharmacist team (typically 5 pharmacists including the ED pharmacist) to ensure pharmacy division operations are running well. The pharmacist may be asked to help with code response and medication order review and verification for additional patient care areas outside of the Adult ED and may need to support medication distribution within the pharmacy.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy resulting in Pharm D. or BS degree. Completion of an ASHP accredited residency program or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum three years of clinical health-system experience or equivalent is required.
  • Current licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Maryland required.
  • Board Certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties or a certification deemed appropriate for the practitioner's practice setting by Division Director is required within 2 years of start date.
  • Hospital and departmental education requirements completed within 90 days of hire.
  • ACLS and/or PALS certification is desired.
