We are looking to add a Process Engineering Intern to our team in Beltsville, MD. This position reports to the Process Engineering Manager and will work directly with production, quality, engineering, and R&D teams on the development, qualification, and scale-up of solid-state battery manufacturing processes. The process engineering intern will be exposed to high throughput roll-to-roll manufacturing, advanced thermal processing, and analytical quality control techniques. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, hands-on problem solver with a strong desire to gain experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

Assist process engineers with data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Present production data with sound statistical methods to monitor process stability.

Support the implementation of new thermal production processes, defect detection methods, and data collection.

Collaborate on process improvement projects for new equipment, material inputs, and quality control systems.

Create and revise critical documentation including standard operating procedures, work instructions, and maintenance protocols.

Participate in manufacturing safety reviews to identify and mitigate potential hazards in production areas.

Effectively communicate technical learnings and challenges across process engineering, R&D, and operations teams.

Required Experience:

Bachelor's degree in progress for Chemical, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering or similar technical discipline. Students entering their Junior or Senior year are preferred.

Experience with one or more of the following preferred: roll-to-roll equipment, high-temperature furnaces, lasers, or advanced analytical methods.

Experience working in a high-volume or pilot scale manufacturing setting is preferred.

Required Skills:

Basic understanding of engineering principles, preferably in chemical, mechanical, or materials engineering.

Ability to work independently or collaboratively with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office software suite.

Experience operating in a chemical laboratory, clean room, or dry room is preferred.

Experience with SQL, Minitab, JMP, PowerBI, or other data management/processing softwares is preferred.
