Description
Program/Fellowship Description
Meridian's Customized Exchanges Division (CE) implements short-term programs to build the capacity of emerging leaders in a specific subject area in partnership with the State Department, U.S. Embassies overseas, local and international NGOs, and foreign governments. Meridian designs these exchanges for students, higher education officials, NGO workers, politicians, diplomats, and journalists, tailoring each project to the participant's and funder's goals. This fall, the Science, Innovation, and Technology (SIT) Fellowship will support the implementation of the U.S. Science Envoys Program , Global Emerging Leaders in International Cyberspace Security (GEL-ICS) Fellowship , U.S Speakers and Specialist Program(s), and U.S. Trade and Development Agency Reverse Trade Missions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assisting with logistical and administrative coordination of in-person exchanges
Drafting program email correspondence as directed by supervisor
Supporting virtual production of events on Zoom or other virtual platforms
Creating compelling, innovative media across Meridian's social media channels and website
Supporting post-program follow-up, monitoring & evaluation, and data management/analytics
Updating program databases and informational documents
Completing all organizational administrative responsibilities in a timely manner
Participation in Fellowship cohort activities
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be/have:
An undergraduate or graduate student or recent graduate in international studies or a related field, or the equivalent in experience. This is an internship-level position.
A highly motivated self-starter with superb communication and organizational skills, and high attention to detail
Strong inter-cultural communication skills; maturity, cultural sensitivity, and tact suitable for working with individuals from around the world
Experience living/studying abroad and/or foreign language skills
Applicants are required to:
Commit 16-29 hours per week to the fellowship
Be fluent in verbal and written English
Be proficient in the MS Office Suite
Have a residence in the DC, MD, or VA area. Although this is a hybrid position, fellows must be able to come into Meridian's DC office on an as-needed basis.
