Job DescriptionThe City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill a temporary part-time Recreation Aide position for the Kettering Recreation Complex. Position is responsible for overseeing all activities that take place in the gymnasium and walking track area. The Recreation Aide is responsible for the security of the facility at all times while on duty including the safety of all participants. Direct supervision is received by the Facility Coordinators and Assistant Coordinators through frequent visits to the gymnasium, daily reports (i.e. equipment, accident, etc.) and/or daily written and oral communication.Examples of Duties (Illustrative Only):Checks facility to ensure safe conditions are maintained both before, during and after use; this includes the gymnasium, gym lobby, walking track and surrounding area (i.e., exercise equipment located in the area); Meets and/or greets the public whenever possible and issues equipment rentals/loaners to patrons when appropriate (i.e., basketball, volleyball, etc.); Directly responsible for facility set up of scheduled activities (i.e., volleyball, basketball, drop-in, gymnasium rentals); Is prepared and on time for scheduled activities (i.e., volleyball, basketball, drop-in, gymnasium rentals); Assists Facility Coordinators and Supervisors in the set-up, tear-down and/or clean-up of the facility; Enforces all City of Kettering policies and procedures as well as any additional rules designed for the gymnasium/track areas; Keeps daily attendance records; Regular and predictable on-site attendance required; Responsible for inventory of all equipment stored and/or used in the gymnasium (i.e., volleyball, nets, etc.).Qualifications:Must be at least 16 years of age and have the ability to perform some physical tasks (i.e., setting up courts, storing equipment, etc.). Must be customer service oriented and possess skills to keep accurate written records (i.e., attendance, accident). Must be able to verbally communicate to the public and handle facility and patron emergencies and altercations in an effective manner.Compensation:Pay range is up to $12.30 per hour.
