Onsite | Fairfax, VA | 5 Days a Week

Summary

Our client is is a leading application Engineering Consulting firm in the Washington, D.C. metro region specializing in Management Services, Technology Solutions and Facilities Services. They partner with and assist Federal, State and local government agencies; private sector Energy Services Companies (ESCOs); and Commercial entities in the design and implementation of their various Engineering and Technology related projects. Additionally, they are able to leverage an engineering team with proven technology industry experience that resulted in multi-million-dollar contracts within federal government, state & local government clients!

Responsibilities

Our client is seeking an Infrastructure Solutions Architect to join their team! This individual will be responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and network infrastructure. This role ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to Commonwealth policies, standards, and guidelines.

  • Perform systems administration engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance, and research and development to ensure continual innovation
  • Install new or rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc., in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
  • Perform daily backup operations and regular file archival and purge as necessary
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
  • Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues, diagnosing and recovering from hardware or software failures, and coordinating and communicating with impacted constituencies
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities, configuring and adding new services as necessary
  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports GIS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures and perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required, configuring CPU, memory, and disk partitions as needed
  • Respond to Tier 1 support requests, providing exceptional customer service
  • Communicate effectively with teammates and customers of varying levels of technical expertise
  • Respond to all break/fix requests associated with end-user resources
  • Configure and deploy new/replacement desktop/laptop computer equipment and peripherals
  • Maintain up-to-date project and architecture documentation, inventory, and maintenance records
  • Monitor system resources for server/service anomalies and resolve connection issues between users and resources
  • Maintain detailed change history of changes, supporting team efforts to improve cybersecurity controls and defenses
  • Support team efforts for threat hunting and mitigation, managing time and resource constraints

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in firewall administration
  • At least 3 years of experience in network monitoring
  • At least 7 years of experience in help desk support
  • At least 7 years of experience in customer service
  • At least 5 years of experience with desktop/laptop/server hardware
  • At least 5 years of experience with desktop/server applications
  • At least 3 years of experience with virtualization
  • At least 5 years of experience in backup and recovery

Preferred Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in cybersecurity is highly desired
  • Experience in audio-video support is nice to have (3 years)
  • Experience in database administration is nice to have (3 years)

  • Applicants selected must have an appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia
