Description/Job Summary


Upward Bound (UB) is a federally funded TRIO program that serves first-generation, economically disadvantaged, and disabled students. Services provided to UB participants are incorporated into approved program objectives that meet secondary school completion and postsecondary school entry goals.


From June 16, 2024, through July 26, 2024, up to forty college-bound high school students from targeted Baltimore City Public Schools will participate in an intensive academic program on the campus of Towson University. Residential Coordinators will reside on campus for five weeks of the six-week summer program.


Responsibilities/Duties


+ Attend orientation and all meetings at the request of the Project Director and UBMS team


+ Supervise and assure a safe environment for Upward Bound Math, and Science students enrolled in the six-week residential summer program at Towson University.


+ Lead and direct tutors, counselors, and UBMS students throughout the work week (Sunday thru Thursday)


+ Ensure a safe environment for students and staff


+ Monitor tutors and other duties that aid in the Upward Bound Math and Science Program goals.


+ Assists with the educational and socio-emotional development of students through academic advising and personal coaching strategies


+ Communicate all problems to the Project Director


+ Assists Director and UBMS team in the development and execution of cultural and recreational activities


Required Qualifications


+ A Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Education or a related field is required.


+ A minimum of two years' experience working with underrepresented students and be a least 21 years of age.


Preferred Qualifications


+ Master's degree
