Job description

This position is being recruited and hired by Sheppard Pratt Solutions on behalf of Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC). As the largest nonprofit provider of behavioral healthcare in the nation, Sheppard Pratt teams with healthcare systems across the country so they can provide the highest quality acute psychiatric services in their community.

What you can expect.

This is a unique opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals in need of urgent psychiatric medical attention. You will be based on GBMC's emergency department, which is located directly next to Sheppard Pratt's landmark Towson, MD campus.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough psychiatric assessments, including risk assessment for self-harm or harm to others.
  • Providing immediate crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to stabilize patients experiencing acute psychiatric distress or agitation.
  • Prescribing and administering medications as appropriate, ensuring safety and efficacy in the emergency setting.
  • Facilitating referrals for the next level of care, including Sheppard Pratt's network of supports.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with ethical principles, confidentiality laws, and regulations governing psychiatric healthcare.

What we need from you.
  • Master's degree with completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
  • Previous emergency department experience.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
