Position Description

The Respiratory Therapist will assist, treat & care for residents with breathing disorders. Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory modalities in accordance with current facility, federal, state and local standards, guidelines & regulations. We re excited for you to come and join our accomplished staff of medical professionals!

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide respiratory treatment to residents requiring some form of breathing therapy, exercise, and or administering therapeutic medication on a regular basis.
Determine requirements for treatment, such as type, method & duration of therapy, precautions to be taken & medication dosages, in accordance with physician orders.
Ensure quality respiratory services provided are in accordance with physician orders & facility policies.
Make assessments and provide care to residents requiring mechanical ventilator support, i.e. making regular rounds on ventilator residents, monitoring conditions and conducting routine mechanical safety checks of the ventilators.
Evaluate, operate and maintain various diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory equipment to include ABG, oximeter, and portable spirometer.

Qualifications

Graduate of a CoArc approved school of respiratory therapy.
Respiratory Care Practitioner license required, with a minimum CRT, RRT licensure/certification preferred.
Working knowledge of respiratory equipment needed to operate, maintain & conduct routine troubleshooting on various types of equipment with emphasis on mechanical ventilators, tracheostomy care & various O2 delivery devices.
