Job description

Job Description
  • Responsible for the operations, maintenance, and upkeep of the Veritas Netbackup application across multiple environments (Testing, Unclassified, and Classified).
  • Maintain the appropriate DOD Cyber compliance level as directed by the program Cyber security office via patching and configuration using DISA STIGs.
  • Provide technical input and accomplish development, deployment, and configuration tasks to maintain the current operational environment.
  • Monitor backup jobs across multiple platforms.
  • Perform periodic disaster recovery scenarios.
  • Maintain backup policies and standards.
  • Troubleshoot performance problems and propose solutions.
  • Maintain all equipment for the backup environment, including servers and disk storage devices.
  • Manage and execute complex database backups, particularly in SQL and Oracle environments, to ensure data protection.
  • Create and maintain documentation.
  • Follow and maintain in-house documentation for repeatable processes.
  • Follow ITIL and industry best practices for Change Management.


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 8-12 years of hands-on system administration experience (additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • DoD 8570 IAT II certified.
  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain CI/POLY.
  • 5+ years of experience with Veritas NetBackup 8.x or greater.
  • 5+ years of experience with MS-Windows, Solaris, and RHEL/OEL Linux environments.
  • 2+ years of experience with VMware 7.x or greater.
  • 2+ years of experience with network communication (IP-based).
  • Installation and configuration experience with Windows Server 2019 and RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 and higher.
  • Experience with Windows PowerShell and Bash shell scripting.
  • Experience with NetBackup data protection and VMware Backup.
  • Strong CLI skills.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP communications.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to be a team player.
