This position will support the National Capital Region - Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC and Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD.

Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine, has a distinguished history of serving the community. As a not-for-profit, full-service, 318-bed community hospital, Sibley offers medical, surgical, obstetric, oncology and orthopedic treatment, intensive care, skilled nursing inpatient services and a state-of-the-art 24-hour emergency department. Suburban Hospital is a 228-bed, Level II Trauma Center, and a community-based hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. Suburban Hospital is a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine and has served Montgomery County and the surrounding area for more than 65 years. Suburban is the designated trauma center for Montgomery County.

About this position:

The Diabetes Educator provides professional development and education to assist staff in preparing for contemporary practice and support in acquiring the evidence-based knowledge and skills needed to competently care for patients. She/he facilitates bridging the gap between research and evidence-based practice ensuring quality and safe patient care both directly and indirectly. She/he participates in the assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating activities associated with comprehensive unit-based, specialty-based, and hospital-wide educational needs.

What you will bring:
  1. Advanced degrees in medical fields such as nursing, occupational therapy, nutrition or social work. Master of Science preferred.
  2. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) certificate required or obtained within 9 months of hire.
  3. Current active license from the state of Maryland
