Overview:

Join the Department of Justice as a Human Resources Assistant and play a vital role within the Department of Justice, United States Attorney's Office (USAO) - Eastern District of Virginia. You'll craft job descriptions, manage vacancy announcements, assist in the thorough vetting of personnel, and provide administrative support to Personnel Security Specialists. This dynamic position offers the chance to support key legal processes in one of the nation's pivotal jurisdictions.

This is a full time position that will require the employee to work onsite at the U.S Attorney's Office in Alexandria, VA. Monday - Friday, normal business hours.



Responsibilities:
  • Preparing and reviewing positions and job descriptions
  • Creating and composing vacancy announcements
  • Drafting and storing position assessment criteria and analysis
  • Uploading vacancy announcements and assessments
  • Gathering documentation and data to support Government personnel in vetting qualification of applicants and conducting qualification reviews
  • Collecting, summarizing, and presenting information associated with an applicant's veteran's preference
  • Assisting in the preparation of necessary documentation to support Government officials in the audit and close out of personnel staffing cases
  • Assisting with initiating e-QIPs and resolving e-QIP issues and/or questions, reviewing pre-employment or re-investigative documents
  • Providing administrative support to Personnel Security Specialists


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma
  • U.S. citizenship
  • 4+ years of experience in human resources/staffing
  • Knowledge of HR concepts, practices, laws, regulations, and precedents
  • Knowledge of staffing and recruitment principles, laws, regulations, and guidelines
  • Knowledge of the full range of position classification and position management principles, policies, concepts, practices, and techniques
  • Knowledge of automated HR/personnel systems
  • Experience with the USAO-VAE's Personnel Tracking System (PTS) is desired
  • Familiarity with USA Staffing is desired
