Position Overview

Impact Manager (IM) leads and develops a team of AmeriCorps members (ACMs) as idealistic, emerging leaders and practitioners focused on strengthening schools and supporting students to improve performance. Reporting to an Impact Director and working from a partner school(s), the IM plays a critical role in implementing City Year's school-based Whole School Whole Child (WSWC) service model, mission, and practices. The IM is also an effective talent developer who will support AmeriCorps members through a challenging and rewarding year of service.

Job Description

Service Delivery & Impact

Implement City Year's Whole School Whole Child model with a high degree of quality to the right students, at the right time, at assigned schoolhouse(s). The Impact Manager will develop and manage partnerships with school administration and personnel to ensure the necessary conditions and resources are in place for AmeriCorps members to deliver attendance, behavior, and course performance interventions for students.

Additional duties include:

* Manage AmeriCorps member mobilization

* Conduct Progress Monitoring, tracking student performance and intervention data across Early Warning Indicators

* Partner with Regional Impact Director to obtain relevant teaching materials and provide professional development to AmeriCorps members to support interventions and ongoing assessments

* Oversee AmeriCorps Member-led school climate activities and organizational initiatives

* Coach and review scaffolded lesson plans that meet, and address student's needs based on available data

* Review lesson plans regularly, and coaches Team Leaders / AmeriCorps Members effectively in creating scaffolded lesson plans that meet student needs based on data.

Corps Member Program Delivery and Experience

Lead, manage, and coach a team of AmeriCorps members to achieve service performance and standards requirements and to reach their leadership development potential. Model leadership that is grounded in City Year's culture and values. Guide AmeriCorps Members in developing their professional plans once their service experience has concluded.

* Build and cultivate professional development opportunities for Team Leaders and AmeriCorps Members

* Coach Team Leaders on organizing and leading culture-building activities and training within the schoolhouse.

Service Partner Management

Build and cultivate strong partnerships with teachers, principals, school officials, and other key decision- makers and stakeholders. Manage the implementation of school partnership agreements and conditions for success.

* Work with staff to ensure that service teams comply with City Year Headquarters and AmeriCorps

* Work with staff and service teams to facilitate Student, Family, and Community Engagement

CORE COMPETENCIES

* Relationship Development: Demonstrated ability to develop and manage complex relationships with schools and community partners. Proven ability to have tough conversations and to hold staff accountable towards their performance goals. Manage relationships with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders to help achieve service goals and AmeriCorps member development.

* Talent Development: Proven success in managing diverse teams towards a common goal. History of coaching/leading young people between the ages of 17-24.

* Executes to Results: Must have a strong record of achieving transformational results with students from low-income communities, at the classroom, school, or network/multiple-school levels. Ability to problem-solve, trouble-shoot, and show creative problem solving when faced with perceived barriers.

* Communication: Ability to translate mission and vision from the organizational level to AmeriCorps members and talk about complex topics and parse them for specific audiences. Able to communicate effectively, efficiently, and with transparency to the right people at the right time to the ensure success of our AmeriCorps members in service.

The Impact Manager is also an effective talent developer who will lead AmeriCorps members to have a successful and rewarding year of service.

* Prioritizing projects and tasks, measuring progress, and driving results; accepts accountability, takes initiative, and knows when to ask for help.

* Analyzing data to identify trends, cause-effect relationships, and opportunities for improvement.

* Using creativity and critical thinking to solve challenges and make well-informed ethical decisions.

* Clearly articulating thoughts and ideas; demonstrating active listening.

* Ability to have frank and difficult conversations with AmeriCorps members around issues such as poor performance, interpersonal and inter-team conflict, race, and diversity.

Authority/Personal Presence/Confidence/Ability to face obstacles.
