The Pharmacy Charge Specialist is responsible for the billing and reconciliation of patient charges for medications and IV solutions to both inpatients and outpatients. Meets established deadlines for completion of all phases of billing and reconciliation. Routinely interfaces with a variety of hospital departments.
Supports the Mission of CHE/Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.
Registration (or eligible) with the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Board of Pharmacy
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Bachelor degree in Business or Healthcare Administration. Accounting experience preferred.
Experience/skill with spreadsheets and other accounting applications (Excel, Access, Powerpoint)
Familiarity with hospital pharmacy practice, accounting, invoices, computers (spreadsheet and database programs)
2-4 years applicable experience in charge capture work in an acute care hospital setting
Two (2) years hospital pharmacy, familiar with pharmaceutical terminology, units of measure, and charging practices
Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension and expression
Able to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff in order to meet departmental objectives. Ability to multitask and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.
Ability to communicate effectively, speak, write, and comprehend English
Able to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to problem-solve
Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with principles for service excellence
