Project Manager - Zero Trust Strategy

Job description

Work Location: Hybrid/Washington, DC.

We are seeking a motivated and customer-oriented cybersecurity professional to support our Department of State client. The candidate will support development of zero trust implementation strategy.

Duties and responsibilities include:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization and government representatives to develop a comprehensive Zero Trust strategy tailored to secure software products and applications, aligned with government security standards.
  • Lead an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to establish Zero Trust software design standards and maturity models, incorporating government contract requirements and compliance best practices.
  • Conduct in-depth evaluations of existing software programs, focusing on their current alignment with Zero Trust principles and government regulations, identifying potential vulnerabilities and compliance risks.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed reports on software security posture with key findings, risks, potential roadblocks, and compliance-specific recommendations. Demonstrate the ability to communicate technical risks to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Develop, present, and gain stakeholder approval for a Zero Trust implementation roadmap, detailing timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies aligned with government procurement processes.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Project Management, or a related field OR equivalent experience demonstrating expertise in software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, cybersecurity frameworks, and Zero Trust architecture.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management or technical leadership roles, preferably within software development environments. This experience should demonstrate expertise in secure software development, implementation of Zero Trust principles, and ideally, familiarity with government contracting contexts.
  • Have track record as an effective communicator (oral and written) with the ability to work professionally and collaboratively with software development teams, vendors, government stakeholders, and diverse groups.
  • Have well-developed time management, schedule coordination, and project management skills. Demonstrated ability to track and manage project budgets would be a strong asset.
  • Deep understanding of Zero Trust principles and frameworks (NIST 800-207) in their application to software design, development, and deployment, with a strong grasp of government security standards.
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate, and provide recommendations on complex software architectures, infrastructure, and security implementations with a focus on Zero Trust, emphasizing adherence to government regulations.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in secure software development practices, SecDevOps principles, policy development, and working with government compliance requirements (ideally specifying relevant ones like FISMA or FedRAMP).
  • Relevant cybersecurity or Zero Trust certifications.
  • Project management certifications (PMP, etc. )
  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
  • Experience leading workshops or training sessions on Zero Trust concepts for development teams.
Certifications:
  • Industry standard cybersecurity certification, e.g. CISSP, CISM, CAP, Security+.
  • PMP preferred.
Clearance Requirement: Active Secret clearance.
