Job description

The College of Arts and Humanities invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies. The preferred rank at appointment is Professor. The five-year administrative term begins July 1, 2024. While serving as director, the tenured faculty appointee will hold a 12-month appointment and be expected to teach one course per year in the scholar's area of expertise and contribute to the school's outstanding graduate program.

The Director of the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies reports to the Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities. As chief academic, administrative, and financial officer of the unit, the director is responsible for course assignments, instructional workload, and scheduling; the appointments, promotion, tenure, and post-tenure review processes; shared governance; faculty mentoring; staff supervision and development; strategic planning; and budgeting. The director also serves as a liaison to other academic units of the College and University as well as the wider community of academic institutions, policy and advocacy organizations, foundations, and private donors who support the department.
