Job description

The Arts & College Preparatory Academy (ACPA) is an arts focused, independent community school on the east side of Columbus that serves a diverse population of students in grades 7 through 12 from over 25 different districts in central Ohio. ACPA is in its twentieth year of operation and has consistently been one of the highest performing charter schools in Ohio.


ACPA is seeking qualified candidates for a Middle School (7-8) Mathematics Teaching position for the 2024-2025 school year. The Mathematics Teacher will report to School Principals and be highly collaborative with other members of their department and school team as a whole.


The Mathematics Teacher will also be expected to reflect ACPA's mission, vision and values of kindness, respect for diversity, honesty, problem solving, communication, participation and awareness in all interactions with school stakeholders including students, staff, parents and community partners. Responsibilities:


Instructional

  • Development of a creative and rigorous subject specific curriculum and execution and planning of daily lessons in accordance with the most up-to-date state content standards with the integration of modern technology resources.
  • Collaboration with the Special Education Department, 504 Coordinators, & support staff to provide accommodations for students per their IEP or 504 plans
  • Create differentiated lessons & activities to engage and reach all types of learners at different levels in the classroom
  • Keeping grades current through PowerSchool and open communication of grades to students and families.
  • Supervision and instruction of a Home Base class (homeroom).
  • Preferred: Project-based learning and arts integration co-teaching with middle school team

  • Teachers cultivate a classroom environment of creativity, safety, inclusion, acceptance, and anti-bullying and exemplify the ACPA values within their classroom structures and lessons.
  • Teachers hold students accountable to school policies and norms through implementation of restorative justice practices and collaboration with the administrative team to help improve student engagement, attitudes and behavior.

Professional

  • Fulfillment of an assigned supervision duty (either morning bus, lunchroom or afternoon bus).
  • Attendance and participation in scheduled professional development in-service days, and scheduled after school staff and committee meetings every Monday.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians concerning grades, discipline, and other student or school related concerns
  • Participation in the Ohio Teachers Evaluation System (OTES).


Qualifications

  • Education Degree OR subject specific Bachelor s OR Master s Degree
  • Valid Ohio teaching license OR the ability to obtain an Ohio teaching license
  • Experience or desire to work in an arts focused and progressive school environment
