Role Description

This is a contract role for a Substance Abuse Counselor at Mazwi Holistic Institute located in Baltimore, MD, with flexibility for some remote work. The Substance Abuse Counselor will be responsible for providing counseling services to individuals struggling with substance abuse. They will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, have 1-on-1 sessions, facilitate group therapy sessions, and provide ongoing support to clients. The Substance Abuse Counselor will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care for clients.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in human service counseling or a related field
  • Licensure or certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (e.g., LCADC, CAC-AD, CSC-AD) in Maryland
  • Experienced working with individuals diagnosed with co-occurring disorders
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities for substance abuse
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to clearly document course of treatment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
  • Empathy and compassion for individuals struggling with addiction
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with other professionals
  • Knowledge of local resources and referral networks
  • Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping
