Job description

Work Location: Hybrid/Washington, DC.

We are seeking a motivated and customer-oriented cybersecurity professional to support our Department of State client. The candidate will support development of zero trust implementation strategy.

Duties and responsibilities include:
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop comprehensive Zero Trust policies, procedures, and technical documentation tailored for software products and aligned with government security standards.
  • Work with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) to define and document Zero Trust maturity levels specific to the company's software development processes.
  • Analyze existing software programs and supporting documentation, assessing their alignment with Zero Trust principles and government regulations.
  • Create detailed reports on software security posture, including key findings, risks, potential roadblocks, and compliance-specific recommendations.
  • Develop clear and actionable documentation to guide the implementation of Zero Trust within the software development lifecycle (SDLC), incorporating secure coding practices and government requirements.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field OR equivalent experience demonstrating expertise in technical writing and cybersecurity concepts.
  • Must be an effective communicator (oral and written), with exceptional technical writing skills and the ability to translate complex concepts for various audiences.
  • Have the ability to work professionally and collaboratively with software development teams, engineers, vendors, government stakeholders, and diverse groups.
  • Have well-developed time management, schedule coordination, and project management skills.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably within a software development or cybersecurity environment.
  • Solid understanding of Zero Trust principles and frameworks (NIST 800-207) as they apply to software development and deployment.
  • Experience in developing policy, technical documentation, whitepapers, or other materials focused on cybersecurity, ideally with some exposure to government compliance requirements.
  • Ability to analyze and understand complex software architectures and technical specifications, explaining them clearly and concisely.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with government contracting documentation standards.

Clearance Requirement: Active Secret clearance.
