The Sr. Account Exec, Specialty Benefits will work with Brokers and Consultants as well as health plan sales and account management teams to drive sales of Dental, Vision, Financial protection & Voluntary Benefits in the assigned marketplace. The Specialty AE will be accountable for exceeding their Specialty Sales quota while promoting the full UHC employer paid and voluntary portfolio externally. This position will be aligned with the market segment, defined as 51 to 3,000 lives and/or 100-3,000 lives.
If you reside in Northern Virginia, DC, or Columbia, MD, you will have the flexibility to work from home and the office in this hybrid role* as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain strong broker/consultant relationships
Develop and maintain key internal relationships
Understand customer and broker/consultant needs and provide value-added consultation
Identify key brokers/consultants for management development
Understand goals, operating principles, strategies and competitive position of specialty benefits portfolio
In-depth Specialty Benefits knowledge and understanding of market trends
Demonstrate knowledge of competitor's strengths, weaknesses and strategies. Understand medical management operations and strategies
Understand financing methodologies and strategies
Thorough knowledge of UHC underwriting principles and practices
Develop and maintain target prospects and drive tactics to win
Negotiate based on broker/customer feedback with underwriting; leveraging product discount programs to maximize the best value to the customer
Drive the sales process, including creating strategy memos and hosting calls with internal stakeholders
Conduct in-depth presentations in the Market
Present a positive image of UHG in the marketplace
Community involvement through professional organizations, associations and local organization
Create and drive strategies for top producing agencies and Brokers
Collaborate with Sales Management and/or Health Plan leadership regarding pipeline, persistency, market objectives and develop competitive strategies to win in the market

Required Qualifications:
Sales insurance license(s) must be maintained as required by state law in residential and non-residential states in your territory
Insurance sales experience
Motivated to exceed Sales goals and compete
Ability to understand underwriting, financial and analytical details as necessary
Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales goals, specifically with ancillary and voluntary benefits products
Solid organizational skills are key to balancing multiple priorities, objectives and customer obligations and time management skills critical to success
Relationship Building and Influencing
Ability to negotiate and close sales
Ability to build and maintain solid client and producer relationships; customer focused approach
Solid communication skills (written and verbal)
Solid presentation skills
