In this role you will be involved in the finishing process of metal parts by operating industrial machine tools, equipment, or systems in the Material Handling Department.

**Responsibilities**

To perform this job successfully, you must be able to report daily to the companys Montpelier, OH branch to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified candidates with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Painting

* Prepare and clean items and surfaces to be finished. Mask, plug, or block specified surfaces not to be coated.

* Uniformly apply paints and coatings to parts, using care to avoid over spraying or inconsistent coating

* Work to obtain smooth and even surface coverage, free from runs and thin spots. Repeat operations as necessary to obtain desired effect or thickness of media.

* Visually and mechanically inspect finished items for pin holes, runs, bare spots, and proper coverage. Refinish or touch up as required.

* Responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of spray application equipment, booths, etc. and ensure needed painting and coating supplies are on hand.

Inspection

* Uses precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.

* Inspects, tests, or measures materials for conformance to specifications.

* Measures dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, or gauges.

* Reads blueprints, manuals, or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, certification processes, or measuring instruments required.

* Records inspection or test data and quantities inspected or graded.

* Marks items with details of acceptance-rejection status.

* Notifies supervisors or other personnel of production problems.

* Recommends necessary corrective actions, based on inspection results.

**Qualifications**

* Must be able to work first shift schedule (6:00am - 3:00pm) Monday - Friday, occasional weekends and comply with the company's timekeeping policy and all other company policies

* Full Shift of physical demand in spray-painting or coating of parts. Frequently lifting or moving parts onto lifting apparatus. Continual use of a hoist to maneuver parts into or out of paint booth.

* Continuous mental and visual attention in making set ups and operating painting and coating apparatus requiring constant alertness and activity.

* Ability to read and interpret documents written in English. Documents to include written work instructions, schematic/assembly drawings, standard operating and maintenance procedures, safety rules. Must be able to communicate effectively with immediate supervisor.

* While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to high and low temperature ranges as well as, high and low humidity ranges. The employee may on occasion be exposed to any number of adverse shop elements/odors to the extent of being disagreeable. The noise level in the work environment is somewhat loud.

* Must be capable of wearing and inspecting all Personal Protective Equipment for all job assignments. Gloves, Protective Eyewear, and Safety Shoes are mandatory for the entire shift.

* Must have basic math skills. Ability to interpret job related instruction in written, oral, schematic or schedule form. Must have ability to solve practical problems.

* Ability to communicate effectively with managers, supervisors, and fellow employees.

* Supervisor may assign other job-related duties that are not defined here.

* Previous related experience preferred.

* Ability to work in team setting
