WASTEWATER TECHNICIAN

Overview:

DS Smith, a leading provider of sustainable packaging solutions, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Wastewater Technician to join our team in Cambridge, MD. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our wastewater treatment systems, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company standards. Key Responsibilities:

• Operation and Maintenance: Operate, monitor, and maintain wastewater treatment equipment and systems to ensure efficient and compliant operations.
• Inspections and Testing: Conduct regular inspections and testing of wastewater to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and identify any potential issues.
• Repairs and Adjustments: Perform routine repairs and adjustments on equipment to maintain optimal performance.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and compliance reports.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
• Problem Solving: Identify and resolve operational issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and departments to support overall plant operations and achieve company goals.

Qualifications

• Maryland Wastewater certification or training highly preferred
• 3+ years of experience with wastewater monitoring and maintenance of wastewater systems
• Experience operating a forklift a plus

Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and report generation.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in various environmental conditions, including confined spaces and at heights.
