Seeking a senior attorney to serve in the position of Director - Legal. This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafts, negotiates, and advises on a variety of complex procurement agreements (e.g., inbound technology licenses, service agreements (e.g., professional, SaaS), non-disclosure agreements, real estate / facilities agreements (e.g. data center, co-location, facility maintenance) agreements, employee benefit agreements, hardware, and software agreements.
Provide strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders on procurement related transactions; the Director role will advise on contract interpretation and risk, and policies and regulations related to goods and services purchased in support of the Company's operations
Understand and leverage internal and external resources to ensure compliance with U.S. and international laws and regulations related to Verisign's procurement related activities
Ensure members of the Law Department are apprised of material developments and matters on a timely basis
Operate in an open and collaborative manner as a "team player"
Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:
J.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited law school
12+ years of legal experience, preferably with some time spent in an in-house legal role in a technology/internet field
Experience drafting complex commercial agreements and leading negotiations, with an emphasis on technology licensing
Demonstrated aptitude to quickly absorb and apply new information and function as a trusted legal advisor with direct interaction with senior management
Receptive to review of and edits to work product
Must be admitted to the Virginia bar, or licensed in another state or the District of Columbia, and eligible for admission as a Virginia Corporate Counsel

The pay range is $194,200 - $262,800.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
