Job description

Must Haves:

  • 2-5+ years of experience testing or inspecting concrete/field density materials (Active American Concrete Institute (ACI) required)
  • Ability to work 40-55 hours a week in greater Columbus, OH area including some Saturdays
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Background in field engineering services, geospatial, environmental, construction, surveying, etc

Plusses:

Certifications:

  • ACI Certification (American Concrete Institute) Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, Concrete Strength Testing Technician Grade I, etc.)
  • ICC Certification (reinforced concrete, spray-applied fireproofing, structural masonry, prestressed/post-tensioned concrete, Structural Steel Bolting, Structural Steel Welding).


Day to Day:

An employer is seeking an Engineering Test Technician for a contract to hire opportunity in the Columbus, OH area. These technicians will be joining a leader in the geospatial and environmental engineering field. The plan is for the technician to convert to a full time employee within the 6-12 month mark, in which they will then receive more individual responsibilities, phone allowance, stock options and full benefits. On a day to day basis the technician will be sent dispatch information to their phone the day before and then head into the office each morning to be sent out to the given locations for the day. Upon arrival the testing of concrete and field density materials will be required to complete and then reported into their phone. An ACI certification is not required before starting, as the company will pay for the certification upon full time hire, however prior certification would be a major plus. While the majority of the work will be completing concrete inspections within the site some further inspections may be required on foundations, structural steel or fire proofing. The ideal candidate will be able to work 40-55 hours in the summer and then closer to 35-45 as the weather starts to change in Columbus. Some of the site locations will be in the university, ODOT, apartment and entertainment industries.
