The Organization
Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture, a non-profit, multi-stakeholder initiative, seeks to harness the collective action of the agricultural value chain to support resilient ecosystems and enhance farmer livelihoods. With nearly 190 diverse member organizations representing all facets of the food and agriculture system, the Alliance leverages its convening power to define, measure, and advance the sustainability of commodity crop production in the U.S. For the past 15 years, Field to Market s science-based and outcomes-driven solutions have fostered pre-competitive collaboration to translate science into action and drive collective impact.

The Opportunity
Field to Market seeks a bold and dynamic leader to guide the next chapter of our journey focused on growing an equitable, resilient, and regenerative future where farmers and nature thrive. As a seasoned communicator and sustainability professional with deep expertise in agricultural supply chains, you will translate the Alliance s strategic priorities into lasting impact by uniting the value chain behind a shared vision and catalyzing collective action.

Working collaboratively with Field to Market s Board of Directors, members, and staff, you will advance the vision and mission of the Alliance by forging consensus through multi-stakeholder governance processes, cultivating pre-competitive collaboration, and scaling change to deliver sustainable outcomes for farmers, nature, and supply chains. You will serve as the chief ambassador for the Alliance, developing relationships with the media, key partners, funders, and other stakeholders. The President is responsible for the overall strategic, operational, and financial success of the organization as well as developing and managing a high-performing team. This role also serves as an ex-officio member of Field to Market s Board of Directors and Executive Committee.

We are looking for a decisive, inspiring visionary leader who is able to play a catalytic role in setting the strategic vision for the Alliance, while maintaining and growing the high caliber of diverse member organizations around Field to Market s table. You are:

  • A visionary with a deep understanding of the dynamic sustainable agriculture landscape and foresight to strategically position Field to Market to remain the leading convenor in U.S. sustainable agriculture.
  • An inspiration to internal members and external stakeholders creating a desire to engage and commit to Field to Market s mission for sustainable agriculture.
  • A respected thought leader in the agricultural value chain with a depth of knowledge and expertise related to advancing sustainable and regenerative agriculture.
  • A skilled and confident communicator with engaging public speaking skills and capacity for translating Field to Market s mission into actionable strategies that inspire a broad set of audiences.
  • A seasoned strategist with expertise in shaping and delivering against strategic priorities to drive measurable progress towards the Alliance s vision, mission, and goals.
  • A passionate ambassador with a proven track record of engaging and deepening relationships with and building consensus amongst diverse stakeholders from farmers and scientists to C-Suite executives, conservation leaders, and policymakers that result in actionable outcomes.
  • An entrepreneur who is excited by the opportunity to grow the organization through increasing membership, creating new revenue streams, and leading fundraising efforts.
  • A cultivator of talent energized by developing a high-performing team with demonstrated experience managing and mentoring staff.
  • A consensus-builder with a demonstrated capacity for building trust, rapport, and agreement across unlikely allies to achieve shared objectives and collective action.

Ideal candidates possess:

  • At least 10 years of non-profit management and leadership experience, ideally with a membership-based organization
  • An advanced degree in a related field
  • Experience with developing and implementing public-private partnerships
  • Knowledge of agricultural data, technology landscape, and licensing arrangements

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and effectively communicate a strategic vision for Field to Market for the future.
  • Shape, implement, and promote strategic priorities with a focus on delivering results.
  • Develop, cultivate, and lead a high-performing team.
  • Strengthen the Alliance s convening power through strategic positing and good governance.
  • Deepen member engagement and satisfaction through understanding members needs and delivering with development of Field to Market offerings.
  • Enhance the organization's visibility and brand reputation through compelling thought leadership and deepening engagement with external stakeholders.

Starting Timeframe
August 2024

Compensation
This position offers an annual salary compensation between $175,000 to $225,000 depending on experience and fit with hiring criteria and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
