Job description

What we are looking for:

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Corporate Engineers maintain systems and perform preventative maintenance for corporate buildings. Maintenance to include boilers, heaters, plumbing, electrical issues etc.

This position requires being on-call. Second or first MD State Engineering license.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:

  • Assume operational responsibility for multiple boiler and/or mechanical facilities on multiple apartment home and/or commercial communities
  • Ensure uninterrupted service of domestic hot and cold water; major plumbing, electrical, HVAC, emergency, and fire/safety systems; heat and air conditioning for the public safety and comfort of our residents and fellow team members
  • Coordinate contractor repairs by procuring and submitting proposals, and scheduling with supervisor, property manager and service manager
  • Create and maintain a current inventory of each physical plant and mechanical room equipment indicating type, make, model and serial numbers and extent of servicing
  • Demonstrates the ability to multi-task, with good organizational skills, overseeing multiple properties and systems of varying design and application
  • Demonstrate the ability to recognize, establish and deal with priorities promptly, and, as much as possible, plan ahead for emergencies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager and/or Supervisor
  • Contribute to team/company engagement efforts
JOB KNOWLEDGE SKILLS:
  • Mathematical ability to perform necessary calculations for the repair or installation of equipment
  • Reads blueprints, specifications and technical manuals, and has a thorough knowledge of hand and power tools, precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials handling according to proper policy guidelines
  • Demonstrates a general working knowledge of boilers, chillers, pumps, heat exchangers, gages, heating/cooling units, refrigeration and ventilation equipment, plumbing fixtures and appurtenances, and total systems such as: plumbing, HVAC, two and four-pipe heating/cooling and steam distribution
  • Demonstrates the ability to repair or replace all piping (water or steam), plumbing fixtures and appurtenances or other maintenance requirements
  • Knowledge of occupational and hazardous materials and understanding of the necessary safety precautions applicable to the position
  • Has a working knowledge of water treatment equipment, their use, and to add chemicals to maintain proper limits to prevent deposits and protect physical assets
  • Knowledge of central heating, air conditioning and plumbing systems

What's required from you:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must obtain and maintain all federal, state and local licensure as required by law, the minimum being a 3rd grade stationary engineer's license
  • Universal Refrigerant Certification
