Overview

LMI is seeking a skilled Senior Space Systems Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO or Chantilly, VA.The Senior Space Systems Engineer advises National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) customers on technical discussions, studies, analyses, algorithms, models, simulations, and other technical products and efforts tasked in the Space Protection mission area.

Responsibilities

  • Support Government customers in a technical capacity for planning, execution, monitoring, and oversight of satellite system development and acquisition studies that advance NRO Space Protection architectures.
  • Operate as an individual contributor and collaborate with a team of high-performing Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Operations Research Analysts, and software developers that directly support the Government through lifecycle systems engineering and management processes to deliver critical space capabilities.
  • Provide oversight of acquisitions, technologies, and studies with specific focus on the system engineering processes to ensure end-to-end system closure and satisfaction of mission needs/requirements.
  • Organize and lead efforts across multiple simultaneous studies and/or tasked efforts.
  • Frequently interact and develop productive relationships with program managers, SETAs, FFRDCs, and external stakeholders.
  • Support risk management processes and methods for identifying, assessing, and adjudicating program risk; Conduct analysis to identify program risk areas and recommend/implement mitigation approaches.
  • Develop documents and briefings to communicate work status, briefs to government and industry as required.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 10+ years of professional experience or master's degree in a STEM field with 8+ years of professional experience.
  • Significant background in systems engineering, satellite systems, subsystems, ground, and program acquisition.
  • Space domain experience and understanding of Space Protection mission area, including Indications and Warning sensors and Defense of space-based systems.
  • Able to work collaboratively across disciplines in a fast paced, dynamic, and small team environment.
  • Strong organization and communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph required. US Citizenship required.

Desired

  • Master's degree or professional certificate in systems engineering.
  • Five (5) years of experience with NRO space systems is highly desired.

Target salary range: $112,000 - $199,000. Final compensation will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to your skills, experience, education, and/or certifications.
