Overview

LMI is seeking a skilled Logistics Planning and Optimization Consultant to support our client in Alexandria, VA.

The candidate will support the Headquarter of the Army G-43/5/7's Future Concepts and Force Integration Division working primarily on Total Army Analysis. The candidate should be very familiar with Army Logistics organizational structure and have a planning background. The candidate must be able to work autonomously, set high standards for personal performance, have strong organizational skills, be detail oriented, and able to work with minimal guidance. Position requires a DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on US Army sustainment doctrine and force structure.
  • Participate in Total Army Analysis process, with a focus on sustainment force structure, to balance the force within authorized end strength; build new capabilities, reduce least needed capabilities, refine (redesign) existing capabilities.
  • Conduct analysis of current and proposed organizational structures to assess changes to capabilities and/or sustainment requirements. Identify gaps and offer mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in scenario development and execution of exercises and wargames to provide input on feasibility of operations, assess sustainment impacts and provide input on logistics force structure required to sustain operations.
  • Coordinate/synchronize key stakeholder activities to maintain momentum on major initiatives.
  • Analyze and assess DoD and US Army logistics and supply chain doctrine to identify gaps and make recommendations on potential improvements.
  • Review planned placement of quantities of new equipment, Component Major Items (CMI), Associated Support Items of Equipment (ASIOE) and personnel, as well as the reciprocal displacement of equipment and personnel in order to determine support, manning and transportability impacts on effected organizations.
  • Communicate with clients through written reports and oral presentations.
  • Research subject matter and prepare point papers/notes/remarks for use by senior DoD officials to internal and external organizations. Produce charts and other presentation materials.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a similar discipline.
  • Ten plus years experience in DoD logistics, preferably Army
  • Good quantitative and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use MS Office Suite to include Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Self-directed, detail oriented in completing assigned tasks, able to adapt to changing work efforts and manage impact of shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify client requirements and develop products to address those requirements with limited guidance and oversight.
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to prioritize competing requirements from multiple sources.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, tact, ability to effectively interact with senior executives from Government and industry.
  • Ability to create and foster a cooperative work environment, both in an office and telework environment.
  • Availability for occasional travel.
  • This position requires an active security clearance at the SECRET level. You must be a US citizen.

Desired:

  • Higher Level Army or Joint Staff experience; understanding of the working inter-relationships among the Under Secretary level staff sections
  • Management consulting experience
  • Familiarity with Army Force Management policies and processes
  • Familiarity with Army equipping policies and processes
  • Familiarity with Army POM development
