Position Title:Maintenance Mechanic

Institution:Close-wide Shared Services

Department:Facilities

Position Type:Full-time/Non-exempt, 12 months

Reports to:Director of Facilities

Date:February 9, 2024

Job Summary:

Performs general maintenance and service calls on a variety of equipment skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the general maintenance and repair related to mechanical/plumbing/electrical systems, and equipment including pumps, compressors, fans, boilers, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.Responds to other facility related projects as directed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Repairs and maintains existing mechanical/plumbing/electrical systems and other miscellaneous equipment.
  • Replaces and/or installs mechanical/plumbing/electrical components and equipment under the supervision of the director.
  • Assists with mechanical/plumbing/electrical system preventive maintenance, mechanical space cleaning, and other general mechanical space duties.
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers, employees, and business partners.Ensures full customer satisfaction by maintaining a friendly, helpful, and responsive demeanor.
  • Observes work area and reports operating and safety problems in a timely manner.Works safely and cooperatively with others.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree and 12 months related experience and/or training in maintenance of building and/or equipment
  • Most possess a valid driver's license


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written and/or verbal instructions.


Working Conditions:

  • Works a flexible schedule; may be required to be on-call and work weekends, evenings and/or holidays.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.Ability to stand, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch.
