NECA is a trade association headquartered in Washington, DC, and is comprised of 118 local Chapters located throughout the nation. It is the voice of the $225 billion electrical construction industry that brings power, light, and communication technology to buildings and communities across the United States. NECA contractors help customers achieve their goals for energy conservation, efficiency, and renewable power. NECA's national office and 118 local Chapters advance the industry through advocacy, education, research, and standards development.

The NECA Executive Pathway Program is recruiting motivated, high-performing individuals who want a pathway to a leadership and managerial role in an affiliated NECA Chapter.

In this paid program, you will progress through a phased program to develop a broad range of knowledge to learn every aspect of how the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) operates - from labor relations, education, member relations, and more. Participants will continually develop their skills as they learn the Association Executive role, including association management best practices. Participants may often rotate to work with different Chapters, contractor members, or staff members.

Upon successful completion of this program, the candidate will be hired directly as an Assistant Chapter Executive by the Central Ohio NECA Chapter based in Columbus, OH.

Requirements

  • Professional, motivated, and adaptable, a self-starter; ability to make rational decisions expediently.
  • Capable of setting priorities when multiple demands are present.
  • Experience working with multiple departments, offices, and points of contact.
  • Ability to function both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while demonstrating professionalism under pressure.
  • Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Segments of extended travel required.

TYPICAL DUTIES:
  • Assist the Chapter Executive in the management of the day-to-day operations of the Association.
  • Attend Chapter meetings across the state of Ohio.
  • Attend NECA National meetings.
  • Complete assigned educational programs.
  • Meet with member contractors to learn about the industry and develop relationships.

Job duties may change over time based on organizational/department needs.

The selected applicant will be initially hired as part of the NECA Staff Associate program through the NECA National Organization. During this program, individuals will progress through a phased training program to learn every aspect of how the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) operates. Participants will continually develop their skills as they learn the Association Executive role. Participants may often rotate to work with different Chapters, contractor members, or staff members.

Schedule: Work hours vary with Chapter functions, including some after-hours meetings and weekend activities.
