Inpatient Benign Hematology APP Job Description Cancer. Care. We Do Both. Clinical Practice & Management of Care : Provides safe therapeutic care in holistic and systemic way to include the assessment and overall management of care for hematology patients under the supervision of an MD or DO. Exercises independent judgement in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of medical processes and procedures in accordance with the nurse practitioner/physician assistant licensure regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and as delineated in the written Scope of Practice/Protocol for Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Teamwork: Communicates effectively and works collaborate with others. Demonstrates respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines and uses an integrated approach to achieve desired patient outcomes. Evidence-based/Best Practice: Utilizes evidenced-based standards, guidelines, and protocols for care delivery. Incorporates data and information to continuously improve care and practice. Professional Development: Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice, serves as a resource, and mentor. Leadership skills demonstrated in decision making and problem solving. Performs high-quality clinical practices and effective patient management, under physician supervision, in accordance with state regulations. Patient care duties may include education and research. Prescribes medications in accordance with state and federal guidelines, including controlled substances. Demonstrates teamwork by communicating effectively and working cooperatively with all members of the health care team. Displays respect for and appreciation for the contribution from all team members in order to foster positive working relationships. Participates in Quality/Best Practice initiatives by utilizing standards and guidelines for cost-effective care delivery in order to continuously improve patient care and enhance outcomes Job Requirements: Board Certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. Maintains necessary CME requirements. Licensed or eligible for licensing as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia DEA licensed or eligible Minimum 2 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider, ideally in hematology/oncology or hospital medicine. Candidate should be comfortable with management of patients with sickle cell disease and acute pain crises. This is an inpatient position at Inova Fairfax Hospital; typical schedule is Mon - Fri, 8 4:30pm Approximately quarterly weekend call duties.
