Database Administrator

Summary Description:

MSAG is building a team of analysts (from entry-level through Senior II) to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on a broad range of research, service analysis, strategic planning, systems engineering (SE), technical, financial, and programmatic support services, and other aviation related support services, that will enable the FAA to accomplish its National Airspace System (NAS), Mission Support, and other aviation related mission objectives

Duties and responsibilities:

Exact responsibilities depend upon the specific position. A specific position will include a subset of the sample responsibilities below. The range includes, but is not limited to, the following:
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements security measures to safeguard computer databases.
  • Develops standards and user guidelines to access database.
  • Modifies existing databases and database management systems, plans, coordinates and implements security measures to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification, or disclosure.
  • Modifies existing databases and database management systems, plans, coordinates and implements security measures to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification, or disclosure.
  • Schedules, plans, and supervises the installation and testing of new products.
  • Monitors database performance and develops optimum values for database parameters.
  • Specifies users and user access levels.
  • Identifies and evaluates industry trends in database systems.
  • Tests and implements database and coordinates modifications.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements security measures to safeguard computer databases.
  • Develops standards and user guidelines to access database.
Basic Qualifications, Educational Level/Years of Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology or related field. Five (5) years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree or master's Degree/MBA in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience OR PhD in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 7 years' experience.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain MRPT clearance.
Desired but not required:
  • Higher degrees and specific certifications are preferred.
  • Certification programs such as Oracle Certification Program and Microsoft Certified Database Administrator.
