We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (Oracle) to join our team in the Washington DC Area. The ideal candidate will have experience in Oracle database design, implementation, and maintenance, providing technical support to application development teams. This role involves generating complex queries and reports, optimizing database performance, and ensuring compliance with data management standards.

Database Administrator (Oracle) Responsibilities Include:
  • Generate complex queries and reports to support application development teams.
  • Provide first-level operational support for development and production database systems, including monitoring and optimizing database performance.
  • Participate in the design of data mining and data warehousing systems.
  • Develop data dictionaries, data models, metadata repositories, and other data management tools.
  • Produce database data models and ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) designs for integrating source data into data management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with data management standards and recommend performance enhancements.
  • Plan and coordinate the migration of data to newer versions of database management systems.
  • Perform a wide range of database administration functions, including troubleshooting database problems and maintaining version control of database entities.
  • Meet with product owners and technical team members to gather and analyze application requirements.
  • Provide written status reports regarding project status, tasks, and issues/risks.
  • Establish database development standards for other developers and review database code and queries to ensure standards are met.
  • Build sandbox, integration, and test database environments for developers and testers.
  • Create database user accounts and grant appropriate privileges to those accounts.
  • Support developers and testers to ensure no impediments to the development team.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
    • Experience with Linux administration, specifically troubleshooting Red Hat Linux issues in a RAC environment.
    • Familiarity with data modeling, ETL design, and data management tools.
    • Project management skills and the ability to provide written status reports.
Database Administrator (Oracle) Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • An Active Public Trust or the ability to obtain one is required
  • Experience in Oracle database design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in generating complex queries and reports.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for database problems.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), GoldenGate, and DataGuard.
  • Ability to provide technical support for development and production database systems.
  • Familiarity with data migration and version control of database entities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
