Job Description

The IT Support Technician provides technical support, advice, and guidance to internal users for IT systems and applications in-person, by telephone, e-mail, or

other network interaction. While the IT Support Technician's primary function will be to help users with their computers and equipment, they will also be part of improvement projects to ensure the IT environment is stable and efficient.

Essential Job Functions
  • Monitor ticketing system for submissions and provide first line support to local end users including responding to: tickets, telephone calls, and e-mail messages.
  • Assist the global help desk and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root cause and provide technical support when needed.
  • Perform server administration tasks (ex: user/group, security permissions, print services)
  • Perform routine and scheduled checks of all systems, including backups.
  • Analyze and test computer systems and programs.
  • Install and configure computer hardware, software, systems, network equipment, printers, and scanners.
  • Inventory management.
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks. Respond in a timely manner to service issues and requests.
  • Assist with on-boarding of new employees.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the IT Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 1 - 3 years combined of IT and customer service experience.
  • IT related certifications preferred.
  • Must have good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret systems and software issues.
  • Ability to simplify complex information into user-friendly format or communication.


Work Environment/Physical Demands:

The work environment and physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.

The performance of this position normally requires exposure to office and manufacturing plant environments. The use of personal protective equipment including steel toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection is required in designated areas. Manufacturing areas may be affected by outside temperatures and machining. The physical demands represent those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to: sit, kneel, crouch, stoop, stand, walk, climb ramps and/or stairs at various times throughout the day; read, work with a computer and keyboard; hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery, sirens, and alarms); speak to express or exchange ideas with, impart oral information to include instructions; vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception. The employee must occasionally push, pull, lift, and move up to 75 pounds.
